Well, we've completed our first lapbook! Actually, Nathan completed HIS first lapbook. We just finished a study of plants, and Nate created a lapbook to go along with it. This was pieced together from different sites. You can see pictures of the completed book in the sidebar of this blog.
Here are some of the sites I used to find the minit books for this book:
Origami tulips on cover
Colorful Flowers book
Flower Pot Addition File Folder Game
Vocabulary Flap book
The rest of the plant books
We had so much fun making this. I paid nothing for the book templates. Most of the information about the plants came from our Sonlight Core K science books. The only cost involved was for supplies: paper, ink for printer, crayons, file folders, glue, clear contact paper and velcro dots. Most of us have these supplies on hand for school anyway.
This lapbook will make an excellent record of what we've accomplished in school for the last month. It will also serve as an excellent tool for review. What child can resist those lift-the-flap books? Even my eleven year old loves them. He can't wait to finish his first lapbook!
Evan is actually making two lapbooks right now. One about the presidents and one about elections. Nathan is now working on an election lapbook as well. Elizabeth is working on an ABC lapbook. Lapbooking has become our favorite part of school!
I hope you will look at our pictures and be inspired to try your hand at lapbooking!
Until next time,
~Linda~
